Use this map to find London museums near the places you are already planning to visit. Zoom into a neighbourhood and tap a marker for the location. If you have only a morning or afternoon, choose one museum to explore properly rather than racing between several.
Choose a museum by area and interest
- South Kensington: The Natural History Museum is a strong choice for nature and dinosaurs; the Science Museum focuses on science and technology; V&A South Kensington covers art and design. They are close together, so you can choose one main visit and leave a second as an option.
- Bloomsbury: The British Museum covers world history and cultures. Allow time for its security queue and a few galleries you most want to see.
- Trafalgar Square: The National Gallery suits an art-focused stop alongside a walk through central London.
- Covent Garden: The London Transport Museum is good for a transport-focused family visit, but unlike many national museums it charges adults for admission; children under 18 can enter free with a child ticket.
Tickets and access: General admission is free at the Natural History Museum, British Museum, National Gallery and V&A South Kensington, while some special exhibitions cost extra. Check the museum’s own site for current opening times and booking arrangements: Natural History Museum, British Museum, National Gallery and V&A South Kensington. For a step-free route between stops, use TfL Journey Planner.

Hi, we are Alberto and Amy, the London locals behind PlanTrip London. We’ve lived in London since 2010 and have spent every year since exploring the city, from its famous landmarks to the markets, pubs, parks and hidden corners most visitors never find. Over the years we became the go-to trip planners for friends and family visiting London, so we created this site to share the same first-hand, tried-and-tested advice with you. Every itinerary, tip and recommendation here comes from our own experience with our two children, so you can plan a London trip that’s easier, better value and far more memorable.
